Cheshire Oak Bowmen was formed in 2003 and has a current membership of thirty plus persons. Some members were already experienced field archers, some graduating from other archery disciplines and some were complete beginners on joining. Cheshire Oak is a family club and we encourage ladies and younger members to join and take part.

For hosting competitions and for practice the club has the use of a wood which is situated close to the B3591 approx 3 miles South of Altrincham and 3 miles North of Knutsford. Here members have the use of the wood to practice at any reasonable time for seven days of the week.

The club has qualified NFAS coaches to give tuition and advice to new members. Advice is always available when you wish to purchase your own equipment and often second hand bows and arrows are available from members improving on their current equipment or changing shooting styles.

Cheshire Oak Bowmen organise two or three open shoots and one league shoot each year. These will be held at the club’s woodland and members are usually required to assist with the organisation and running of these events.

Members are encouraged to take part in open competition organised by other clubs and members will often travel as far as 120 miles in shared transport to compete.
There are three or four major championship shoots throughout the year, culminating with the National Championships in September. These shoots are usually over a two day period and well attended by all the various styles.

Cheshire Oak Bowmen are affiliated to the NFAS and all shooting members are required to join this society, which also provides third party insurance.
